Insulating wallpaper made out of polystyrene is cheaper – at around £9 for a 4mm-thick 10 metre roll – but is said to be less effective. I used Wallrock Fibreline 150 lining paper to go over it. Any "paste the wall" lining paper should work though. Apparently normal lining paper expands on pasting, then shrinks as it dries and this can pull the polystyrene insulation off the wall.
